Jungle School

Forest School (known as Jungle School here at Hornbill to match our rainforest environment) is a child-centred learning process that offers opportunities for holistic growth through regular sessions throughout the year. The sessions support play, exploration and supported risk taking. Children develop confidence and self-esteem through learner inspired, hands-on experiences in a natural setting.

The Forest School movement has roots reaching back to the open-air culture, friluftsliv, or free air life, seen as a way of life in Scandinavia where Forest School began. It arrived in the UK in 1993 and has grown from strength to strength since then. We are very lucky to be able to ensure every child at Hornbill School receives regular biweekly Jungle School sessions.
